No Holding Back

$2,080.00

36 in x 48 in, acrylic, oil pastel on canvas, 2022.

Artists often talk about loving the beginning and ending of a work, but hating the "messy middle." That's where you're afraid to make a choice, take the next step, for fear that it might ruin the progress you've made. As an emerging artist, I've found myself there over and over again, until I took a class with the fabulous Flora Bowley who encourages artists to ask a series of questions including, "what am I craving most in this moment?" I was craving the permission not to hold back when I reached the messy middle. So I locked myself away in my studio one rainy Saturday morning and repeated over and over again, "No Holding Back!" And this beauty emerged. A wonderful addition over a fire place in a living or great room, bedroom, dining room, or office.
